In all fairness the little that is required of you does not come close to compensating for your livelihood and all children come to realize this as they experience adulthood. So be grateful first of all for having a parent to provide for you. The short amount of time that it takes for you to clean your room, clean the kitchen, keep the bathroom that you use clean, and vacuum the living room does not equate in the least to the number of hours your parents put in on the JOB to keep shelter over your head and food on the table for you to eat. So take some initiative and clean up without them having think to ask. Show them that you are greatful for everything they have sacrificed in life for you. Oh you think they have not sacrificed anything since they had you. Hmmn, ask them what they would be doing if they never had any children and you will find out. They gave up a lot of excitement and fun to presently look into the eyes of a ungreatful monster who takes everything they have ever done for granted. Why do we keep taking it? Because we love you with all our heart and soul! We would do anything for our children, even keep taking their abuse, disregard for our attempt to prepare them for life on their own and discontent with disciplinary measures when they fall short of expectations.
Many of us look for additional income sources outside our regular 9-5 to compensate for all the extracurricular activities our children want to partake in. We are looking ahead into the future and want to put money away for our children's college fund. We need right now money for all the demands of life. We are sick of there being more month than money and tired of living paycheck to paycheck. In some cases this opens up another can of worms when rearing up our children. While on that paper chase what are we giving up? Our TIME!! That's something you never get back and in many cases that's all the child is craving our TIME.
